OVERVIEW
Herron Coorey was engaged to complete the restoration works on the Princess Theatre, Queensland’s oldest standing theatre
HOW WE HELPED
Under new ownership at the time, Herron Coorey worked closely with our client to return this heritage-listed landmark back to its former glory. To prolong the 133-year-old theatre’s reputation as the heart of Brisbane’s arts scene, the venue required some attention.
The restoration project included structural refurbishments to the roof, the installation of a lift and soundproofing. Also required were building extensions, and refurbishments to amenities, the function room, and bar alongside internal finishes.
This project was engaged upon a cost-plus contract, and its completion was valued at $6.6m. It took a duration of 30 weeks, and was finished in 2021.
Herron Coorey partnered with the architects at JDA Co., the mechanical engineers at Quinlan Engineering, and the structural engineers at Bligh Tanner to bring some life back to one of the city’s most iconic buildings.
